The 8 Stages of the Morocco Desert Challenge

A coast to coast rally with 0 km liaison

The 2018 Morocco Desert Challenge (MDC) promises to be an adventure full of surprises. Since Morocco has so much to offer, the competitors will have the privilege of exploring as much of the Moroccan landscape as possible. In the 2018 route of the MDC, the rally drivers will compete from coast to coast, travelling from the beaches of Plage Blanche, at the Atlantic, to the Mediterranean shores. This route will consist of new bivouacs and 8 new stages.

Apart from being an adventure full of surprises, with fast tracks, technical parts, vast African plains, dunes, salt lakes and legendary Dakar stages, what is unique about the Morocco Desert Challenge is the 0 km liaisons. No other rally has this feature. Also, because it’s the 10th anniversary, there will be an 8th racing day added to the rally: a prologue on the stunning and mythical beach of Plage Blanche.

Stage 2: Plage Blanche – Touzounine

Stage 3: Touzounine – The Dunes of the Jews

  • Tuesday, 17 April
  • Distance Special 3 = 335 km / Liaison = 0 km

Stage 4: The Dunes of the Jews – Fezzou

  • Wednesday, 18 April
  • Distance Special 4 = 310 km / Liaison = 0 km

Stage 5: Fezzou – Merzouga

  • Thursday, 19 April
  • Distance Special 5 = 275 km / Liaison = 0 km

Stage 6: Merzouga – Boudnib

  • Friday, 20 April
  • Distance Special 6 = 306 km / Liaison = 0 km

Stage 7: Boudnib – Matarka

  • Saturday, 21 April
  • Distance Special 7 = 410 km / Liaison = 0 km

Stage 8: Tendrara – Oujda

To round things off, the finish and award ceremony, as well as the 10th anniversary surprise party of the 2018 Morocco Desert Challenge will be held at a five star hotel in Saïdia, at the shores of the Mediterranean sea. This location is perfect since the port of Nador and the international airports of Oujda & Nador are just around the corner.
